Who we are

Assam Cancer Care Foundation, an initiative of Government of Assam and Tata Trusts; in collaboration with different Medical College Hospitals of Assam through Directorate of Medical Education has been setting up ‘Health Screening and Awareness Kiosks,’ ‘Swasth Assam.’ The kiosks are being set-up in the OPDs of Medical Colleges.

The primary objective of setting up ‘Swasth Assam’ kiosks is to enhance the coverage of NCDs (Non-Communicable Diseases) screening and health awareness, through opportunistic screening and education of OPD (out-patient department) and IPD (in-patient department) patients’ attendants and visitors.

Swasth Assam kiosks are operational in (i) Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati (ii) Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta (iii) Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, Tezpur (iv) Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh (v) Diphu Medical College and Hospital, Diphu and (vI) Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Silchar.

What we do

According to World Health Organization, Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) is important. However, investing in better management is the other key component of the NCD response. Investing in better management of NCDs is critical. Management of NCDs includes detecting, screening and treating these diseases, and providing access to palliative care for people in need.

Screening services provided at the ‘Swasth Assam’ kiosks range from general health check-up to hypertension, diabetes, BMI and oral, breast & cervical screening. Awareness is provided on lifestyle, nutrition and other health topics.
