IMPACT STORIES
In October 2022, SUBAMMA P, a 39-year-old resident of a small town near Tirupati, began
experiencing severe body pain and di culty breathing. After seeking medical attention, she
was diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer at SVICCAR. Despite her deteriorating
condition, the compassionate team at SVICCAR provided tailored treatment, including a
customised chemotherapy regimen, which significantly improved Subamma's quality of life.
With the support of her family and the expertise of the medical sta , Subamma has made
remarkable progress in her battle against cancer, regaining her independence and attending
chemotherapy sessions on her own.
Just like her, GUNASEELAN, a 65-year-old bike mechanic from Tirupati, faced the daunting
reality of a lung cancer diagnosis with worry over the cost of treatment and access to quality
care. Fortunately, the newly launched Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Cancer Care and Research
(SVICAAR) provided him with a ordable and comprehensive support. From e cient
appointment scheduling to compassionate counselling and prompt initiation of
chemotherapy, SVICAAR alleviated Gunaseelan's concerns, enabling him to start treatment
with confidence. Grateful for the hospital's modern treatment approaches tailored to
underprivileged patients like himself, Gunaseelan emphasises the importance of accessible,
high-quality cancer care. “SVICAAR not only reduces financial burdens but also ensures that
more lives can be saved through timely and e ective treatment”. He highlighted the
significance of bringing cancer care closer to home for patients.
